Neon front passenger airbag deactivation

Neon front passenger airbag deactivation
We have a 52 plate Neon LX - but want to deactivate our front passenger airbag, as this seems to be the only way we're going to get a baby car seat in place (as the seat belts in the rear are too short to fix our seat in place).
Does anyone know how much, roughly, this might cost at a garage and if we have to inform our insurance (or by doing this does it invalidate the insurance)??
Thanks

There are extensions available for seat belts. They look a lot like those things the flight attendants use to demonstrate seat belt use on airplanes with a male buckle part on one end and a female part on the other end. Ask the parts guy at your local dealership or maybe you can find one at an autoparts store.
It's a lot simpler than de-activating an air bag.
