Question about 2.7 EER v6
I'm getting a new 2.7 EER V6 put into my 2001 sebring. Dealership said was because the water pump broke off... granted yes, the car is over 10 years old, but a car dying at 135K miles is terrible.
Now that the year is 2012 and the 2.7 EER V6 has been discontinued, but still have some in warehouses to use as replacements for damaged motors to dealerships. I wanted to ask any experienced Chrysler service technicians if they've seen ANY improvements of revisions of the 2.7 engine along the years or have any experience putting in a new 2.7 so that they won't die a short death?
Maybe this is reason enough of why they've discontinued the model? I've tried really hard to do research the cause of why these engines die at an early age. Say it's due to oil sludge from the water pump getting corroded. overtime it wears away and slowly leaks coolant into the motor mixing with the oil causing sludge and wearing away the tension of the timing chain. If i am getting a new motor what is an efficient way to keep the longevity of this engine to 200k miles?
