Spark / Fuel / Starting problems 97 Sebring
My '97 Chrysler Sebring (117,000 miles) is truly giving me the fits! I have an intermittent (appears electrical) problem. The motor cranks well but will not start. I've noticed that the spark is non-existent when the problem occurs. I also believe that the fuel may not be injecting as well. I've replaced the fuel filter, checked the pump operation, replaced all 4-O2 sensors, crankshaft position sensor, EGR valve, idle air control valve, battery and terminals, plugs, wires, cap and rotor.
The only code I get from the MIL is 12-Battery Disconnect. (Which is accurate.) When it happens the car can be cold, hot, hot soak, or anything. (No rythym!!!) It can last 5 minutes or 5 days. (Ok, 5 days is an exaggeration, but 2 is not.)
Do these cars have some sort of electrical bypass system for starting that could be acting up? Also I noticed a capacitor attached to the distributor. Is that part of the spark generation system and therefore suspect?
Any help will be appreciated.
