Default 2014 Chrysler 300 owner

I have owned my Chrysler 300 for about 9 yrs. There are good and poor features with this vehicle just as there are with any other vehicle I suppose. It is an excellent riding car for long trips. It has very poor lighting provided by headlights. Poor side lighting when coming to turns at night.
Here are maintenance records I kept since owning car.
The most serious problem was an oil leak around oil filter adapter cooler. Major job to get at with that 3.6L V6. Dealer fixed it under Warrantee

Get the diagnostic trouble codes read. Many auto parts stores will read or loan an OBD scanner. The transmission code is the most important one as it probably triggered the check engine lamp but all the codes are needed. Note dtc's do not point to a part but is a starting point for a proper diagnosis.

At 103,000 miles you are due for new spark plugs (100,000 mile recommended).

Thanks for input.
i have my own diagnostic reader albeit a cheap one (Autel 319) It shows no codes although it knows there is a message being displayed. Reading some other threads, this message does not necessarily throw a code, I cleared the message but of course it reappeared within next couple driving cycles. Wondering if others have seen this message and how they corrected it. Heading for the dealer eventually to see if there are any recalls on this.

If the check engine lamp is lit, there is a diagnostic code. If the service trans message is being displayed, there is a diagnostic code. I believe your reader may not be able to read/decode some of the newer manufacturer specific codes that are triggering the lamp and message (firmware update may remedy).

Suggest a visit to an auto parts store. It may also be beneficial to have the stored (previously active), pending (not yet meeting active criteria) and active codes.

Your right.
My diagnostic reader has two areas. Engine codes and A/T (automatic transmission??) codes.
There is a code under A/T PO850 (Park/Neutral switch input circuit). There is a good video on this.
Hopefully just a poor connection in wiring harness?? We will see.

I continue to have issues with the shifter on this 2014 chrysler 300. It doesn't want to shift smoothly into PARK when I come to a stop and want to get out of car. If I leave in NEUTRAL it will go into PARK when I take my foot off brake or open car door. Sometimes i'll try repeatedly to put into PARK while foot on brake and it might eventually work. It would appear that computer sometimes does not know I have foot on brake. Has anyone else had similar problem and how was it resolved? Thanks

Issue resolved. I want to pass along how my problem (shifter won't go into park) was resolved in case anyone else has this problem. This generated a PO850 code and check engine light. This was a real freak situation, It just so happens that a small stone had kicked up and got wedged between the emergency Park Release arm located on transmission and the transmission case. I have the 8 speed transmission. This caused the arm located on the transmission to reposition itself. The Park/Neutral switch that tells the computer all is well is apparantly located on this arm internally in the transmission. The computer TCM (Transmission Control Module) thought the emergency Park Release lever in the car had been pulled and wouldn't let me shift into park. The car did would go into Park but the indicater light on the handle wouldn't come on and confirm this to the TCM. I had taken this to Chrysler garage and they wanted to sell me a $2200 Transmission. I took it to a little shop out in the country by me who charged me $50/hr rather than $140/hr that those so called expert Chrysler mechanics charge, Ended being a $180 stone . Problem solved.

Thanks for the update. Very much appreciated.

Kudos to the mechanic - good old fashion trouble-shooting. Definitely a keeper.

I was thinking about replacing my spark plugs. My car came with sp149125af spark plug. They run around $22 ea. sp149125ae spark plug are much cheaper and used in the jeep Wrangler. Same engine I have in my Chrysler 300 - 3,6L Pentastar
Anybody know what is difference between sp149125af spark plug and sp149125ae spark plug
Ive looked around on internet for answer but cannot find the answer. Both are iridium plugs.

The af plug is a later revision than the ae plug. The reason for the revision is rarely provided and it may be simply a change of manufacturer. Functionally, they are equivalent.

I would suggest using 'rockauto.com' and getting the NGK iridiums as NGK is typically the OEM supplier. Chrysler/fca has used either Champion or NGK as OEM spark plug suppliers sp either would be good.
