Default questions about my new (to me) LeBaron

I just bought a '93 LeBaron LE sedan. I've never driven a Chrysler before. Anything anyone might wish to share would be appreciated. I have a couple of questions on my mind for now.
1 - I read that anti-lock brakes were an option on this car. How can I tell if mine has them or not?
2 - The person I bought it from says that it will need a new transmission eventually. The main symptom of this now is that when I try to put it in reverse, I have to rev it for a while, then it jumps into gear suddenly and jerks backward.
How would you advise delaying the inevitable; are there ways to 'baby' the transmission along until I can raise the money?

I'm sure I'll have more questions later. Thanks for reading.

Another question already
The 'check engine' light has been on since I first drove it, and it was on all the time the previous owner drove it, for ages. It seems to run fine. Could it be on just because the A/C doesn't work or something? How much concern should I give to this?
While I'm at it, can anyone tell me how well this car runs on ethanol?

we had one for quite a while. Good ride - very economical - plenty of power. I'm not a techie but I'd be there's no way to postpone the inevitable. My opinion ... do it before winter. Good luck!

We never tried ethanol in ours but from other forums where I've raised the specter of ethanol, the response is that you would need to make adjustments. If not - your mileage will truly suck! An interesting point all the same in light of the fact that early Fords were built to run on ethanol. The belief "seems" to be that the oil lobby won out.

Figures about the ethanol in early Fords. Well, gasoline was a lot cheaper in those days, too.
Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately, the transmission will almost certainly not be fixed before winter. The money just isn't there. Fortunately I only bought the car to drive occasionally, mainly for getting out of town, so I won't be relying on it. (I normally bike or ride the bus. This is the first car I've owned in 5 years)
I found out that I could adjust the car to run on ethanol, but that it couldn't use regular gas then. That wouldn't work if I want to go somewhere that doesn't have ethanol.
Thanks again.
