Speaking of the NSX, isn't 2005 the last year for it?

Yes, Hondas can be built to be fast. Big fat hairy deal, so can anything else. You can build anything to be fast. All it takes is $$ and some creativity.

Uh, I beg to differ bud. While I myself will probally never own a Honda, b/c I like individuality and uniqueness, I still must defend them. Many of my best friends own Hondas......almost all of them. Just to name a few, my friends John and Brandon have Civic hatchbacks with B18 (Integra) GSR engines in them. Johns is mildly tuned, and Brandon has headwork, a built bottom end and a supercharger, and both can whip just about any car, any day. Just to name a few cars they've beaten would be EVOs, STis, Mustang Cobras, etc. Another good friend of mine, Jeff, has an 03 Civic EX coupe with a K20 (RSX) type-S engine in it, and all he has done to it is an intake and exhaust.....and its still much faster than any car i've ever owned. And then of course I have a few distant friends, some of which have 600-700hp turbocharged Civic hatchbacks that can outright annihilate any car on the road. I previously had an 88 RX-7 with moderate work done to it, and it did all it could to even keep up with these cars. Now sold, i'm in the process of finding and buying an 05 Crossfire 6-speed........but I have no intentions to mess with my Honda-head friends.......they're in a class all of their own. Its called power to weight ratio. Just had to stick up for my Honda pals who aren't aware of the trash talkers on forums they'd never think twice about looking at.

Not to burst your bubble or anything........but 300hp in a 3000 pound car isnt really that impressive. With a Civic hatchback you get a 1900 or less pound shell, and access to swap in many different motors such as B16 (160hp), B18 (160-200hp), B20, H22 (200hp), and now even K20/K24 (200+hp). And with slight work you can get these engines easily up to 300hp, and with boost, i've seen these things go up into 500-600hp. A year or so back there was a blue Civic hatchback on the cover of HCI (Hot Compacts and Imports), and it was fully streetable and basically looked stock. The only noticable mods were the Racing Hart wheels and the carbon fiber front lip. Of course the interior had a rollcage, racing seats, aftermarket gauges, etc, but in a stoplight race you wouldn't have time to notice all of that. Now, this car had a built H22 (Prelude) engine with 725hp....and with a Honda, it stays every bit as reliable. So if your ever at a stoplight and a 725hp Civic hatchback pulls up next to you......tell your wife to pull out the handycam and get her to record the race.....I wanna see how your 300hp 3000 pound sedan stacks up next to a 725hp stock looking 1900pound commuter car.

Yeah, that's great but I can do the same thing with my 3.5 V6 and smoke the ever living crap out of any Honda. You're comparing apples to oranges here.

The way I look at it is this..... would you rather buy this stock...

$34,250
2.2-liter VTEC® 4-Cylinder engine
237 horsepower, 162 lb-ft of torque

Or if you are going to spend that much already, buy this...

$38,695
6.1-liter HEMI® V8 engine
425 horsepower, 420 lb-ft of torque

Now take both of these cars, and do the same mods to them....what are you going to get?????

A weedeater sounding S2000 and a beefy Charger!!!!

Yes, Hondas or any other little Japanese car can be made to be fast but if you do the same mods to an American sports car, it would blow the doors off of them. Most stock American sports cars can crush Ricers with mods. The only real Japanese sports cars around worth mentioning that are fast "stock" are the Nissan 300Z, and the new Mitsubishi Eclipse. The rest of them can't beat a Neon SRT4. If you are going to compare, it has to be stock vs. stock or mods vs. mods.

I own a 1999 Chrysler 300M, which by no means is a racing car, but it holds its own. I have smoked on dozens of so called "racing" hondas myself, but Ive had my fair share of smokings by them too. You gotta remember theres REAL honda racing vehicles out there, and about 5 times as many look alikes. Just because it looks and sounds good, doesnt mean it will do a 12 second 1/4 mile. 75% of all the hondas out there, are wanna bes.
